SIMBA SAFARI - 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS

Our Simba Safari is our most popular Tanzania adventure with five weekly scheduled departures. After an arrival night in Arusha, you visit Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Tarangire National Park. Two departures feature Serena Lodges and three feature Sopa Lodges. All are available joining other travellers as seat in vehicle. All can also be taken on a private basis for extra money.

Day 1

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you are met and transferred to your Arusha area hotel for overnight on bed & breakfast basis - Serena Mountain Village or Arusha Coffee Lodge

Day 2

You have an easy morning allowing you time to reorganise after your long flight and prepare for your safari adventure. You depart after lunch and drive through the Maasai Steppe and Rift Valley. Small villages and huts dot the landscape and the imposing Great Rift can be seen in the distance. At the village of Makuyuni, you turn towards Lake Manyara and the Rift. After passing the village of Mto wa Mbu, you ascend to the top of the escarpment and Lake Manyara Serena Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

After an early breakfast, you descend to the foot of the escarpment and game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Here there is a chance of viewing hippo and flamingo and a certain chance of enjoying the antics of large families of baboons. Though all lions can climb trees, Lake Manyara National Park is noted for them. You return to the lodge for lunch and then set out to travel by road to Serengeti National Park. The drive takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation area and a preview of the excitement to come. Once you pass the Naabi Gate, game viewing takes on a new dimension as you continue to your lodge arriving for dinner and overnight. Overnight is at Serengeti Serena Lodge or Serengeti Sopa Lodge.

Day 4

Using your lodge as a base, you spend the day game viewing in Serengeti National Park. You may also choose to start your day with an optional balloon safari. Meals and overnight a the lodge as above.

Day 5

You head out after breakfast and begin game driving in Serengeti National Park. You continue game viewing as you head toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There is a picnic lunch served to provide more time for game viewing. You arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.

Day 6

Your full day is spent exploring the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. Formed when an ancient volcano collapsed, the floor of the crater is home to more than 30,000 resident mammals. It is possible to see the big five in just a few minutes. A picnic lunch is served near a hippo pool. In the last afternoon, you return to the crater's rim for dinner and overnight at the lodge as above.

Day 7

This morning you head to Tarangire National Park and begin game viewing as you enter en route to the lodge. You have lunch at the lodge and an afternoon game drive returning for dinner and overnight. Accommodation is at Tarangire Sopa Lodge

Day 8

You return to Arusha, enjoying some final glimpses of wildlife as you leave the park. Once in Arusha, you have lunch and an opportunity for gift shopping at some of the town's gift centres.
